The first major event of the year will be the Willow Springs 500 for the Group 2 Touring Cars. This event will also be the 4th Round of the Track Stars Touring Car Series. The race will see competitors tackle 500 gruelling kilometres around the Willow Springs International Raceway - Big Willow circuit, which will be a test of speed, concentration, endurance and strategy.

There will be a single 30 minute qualifying session on the Thursday Night (April 25). Results of the qualifying session will be used to determine the grid order for the qualifying races held following qualifying on the Thursday night. The formats for the qualifying races will be dependent on the number of drivers in attendance and will be as follows:
11 cars or less: 2 x 5 lap races for all cars with Qualifying deciding the order of race 1 and a reverse grid of the qualifying order in Race 2. Drivers will be required to make a tyre pit stop between laps 1-4 in either Race 1 or 2. Combined points from Races 1 and 2 will determine the starting order for Sunday nights race. A bonus 10 points will be awarded to fastest qualifying time and 5 points to 2nd place.
12-16 cars: Fields will be split into odds and evens based on qualifying results. Both groups will run a 10 lap race with Race 1 being the odds and Race 2 being evens. Results from Race 1 will decide the inside line and the Results from Race 2 deciding the outside line. Top 2 cars in qualifying will be locked into the front row of Sundays race.
More than 16 cars: Qualifying will take place across 2 rooms, with qualifying results used to split drivers across the 2 rooms for a 10 lap qualifying race in each room using the same format as the 12-16 system. The top 2 in qualifying will earn automatic spot on the front row in the Sunday race along with drivers who have competed in previous rounds of the series. Remaining positions decided by the results of the 2 qualifying races

As we have damage turned of for the races we will not be opposed to a little bit of rubbing and bumping between cars as long as no one has their race severely affected by any contact. In the event contact does occur and a driver does lose more than the one position we recommend that the driver attempting to pass drops back behind the affected driver to address the situation.
